Online booking process for HSRP and color coded stickers in Gurgaon, Haryana

Residents of Delhi NCR are in mad rush to register for HSRP (High security registration plate) and color coded stickers as Delhi Police has started fining Rs 5500 for not having any of the above, which means a citizen is bound to pay Rs 11000 as fine if he/she doesn't have both of them. As the announcement of enforcement of this rule was made we went through a number of portals sharing details on how to apply for both of these combine or individually on bookmyhsrp.com. However, we soon found out that the portal is accepting only Delhi and UP registered vehicles and leaves behind Haryana which encircles Delhi from 3 sides.

For Haryana users the vendor has come up with another portal which is http://hsrphr.com/. Once you are on the porta, you can follow below steps.

  • Navigate to Haryana hsrp portal.

  • Select first option if you don't have HSRP or else you can apply only for color sticker.
  • Enter Car details

  • Select fitment location as per your location

  • Select Appointment and timeslot as per availability

  • Confirm details in booking summary page and proceed

  • Verify Details and pay

  • Once payment is done, you will presented with Payment Receipt and appointment details. Please save both of these and keep them handy.

[Solved] Wireless Network Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration

Recently I had to replace my 3 year old Netgear JNR1010 N150 router with TP-Link  TL-WR841N the task seemed pretty easy as configuring a new router should be not a big deal I thought, however the show was not a easy one, otherwise this post wouldn't  have been written at all. The first problem was that my ISP allows me to connect directly only on one MAC address, this huddle was easy to get through just a call at customer care and they made it free for some time and allowed me to connect the new router and assigned the new MAC address to my account. Going by the instructions I was able to configure my router for PPPoE account and validated the same on my Android phone. However, when tried verifying the same on laptop I got below error once problem was diagnosed by Windows.

The problem screenshot
Solution:

After the problem was known, it made task simpler as I knew what to search for. Below are the ones which worked.

Step4: Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)  and click on Properties button

Step5: Assign static Ip as shown in below image.

Step6: Click on Ok button.

Step7: Turn off your wifi and connect again. Hope fully the problem should have gone now.

Method 2:

Step1: Open Command Prompt as administrator.

Step2: Type command "NETSH WINSOCK RESET"

Step3: Restart your system.

Method 3:

Step1:  Open the Run command by pressing windows button and 'R' key simultaneously.

Step2: Type devmgmt.msc

Secure your Android devices with these 7 tips from Trend Micro

“Many users choose Android over other OS-based devices because first, the devices can be relatively cheap; second, it’s known for fast and efficient data storage and third, it’s available across different form factors, brands, and price points,” said Paul Oliveria, researcher of Trend Micro. Moreover, Android is popular among mobile developers and manufacturers for its capacity to house innovative app development without licensing fees and its simple, yet powerful Software Development Kit (SDK).

As Google wants to empower users and developers as much as possible, the very freedom makes Android a viable platform cybercriminals and hackers want to exploit. Android users can expect to run into a few problems from time to time and their device and the data in it can be stolen, spied on, and used by cybercriminals if they aren’t careful. “Because the mobile landscape is ever-changing, securing mobile device can be tedious. In the virtual world where hackers and cybercriminals are hard to trace, you are the only one who can make sure your device and the data in it is well protected. We hope the following tips can be of help in that endeavor,” Paul said.

  1. Lock the screen – Enabling a screen unlock code will prevent a device thief from accessing your mobile data.
  2. Protect your data – Android virtually comes with pre-installed security measures that can be easily accessed and enabled from the security submenu. The Android security screen also includes an option to encrypt the device. Enabling this option will help protect sensitive information stored in the device.
  3. Strengthen passwords and app permissions – Google does a fine job at synching their updates with Android devices. However, some manufacturers take a little more time to update. Remember to check the features that you allow the app to access, and don’t forget to use strong and unique passwords. If you re-use your passwords, hackers can effortlessly guess the passwords on your other accounts.
  4. Install a security app – It’s always a good idea to make use of security apps. An app that offers anti-theft features like remote wipe-out, tracking, and locking, as well as malware scanning and detection can help mitigate potential threats. For example, Trend Micro Mobile Security is a security app for Android phone and Android tablet, which blocks malicious apps from Google Play before they are installed; guards against identity theft and viruses; blocks dangerous and fraudulent websites; protects your privacy on Facebook; protects kids online; and even extends battery life and optimizes device performance and memory.
  5. Connect to secure networksWhenever you go online using a network you don’t know, such as public Wi-Fi, you should be more careful because unsecured Wi-Fi networks can be used to stage man-in-the-middle attacks where data can be intercepted by a third party. Avoid online banking, financials, and purchasing over public networks. If you use Wi-Fi at home, please make sure you use a password to secure your router.
  6. Avoid rooting your device – Before rooting your Android device, consider the pros and cons first. While it allows you more control over your device, it could also allow unsigned apps, including malicious ones, access to your data. This also makes it difficult to patch and update your OS and apps, which could leave your device vulnerable.
  7. Download from official app stores – Downloading from third-party sites or app stores is one of the easiest ways for any mobile device to get infected with malware. Limiting your apps to those from official or trusted app stores (like the Google Play app store) can lower the risks.

How to add custom ringtones to Android phone

As soon as we buy a new phone we start giving it a personal touch, be it the wallpapers, applications, contacts or ringtones. When you buy a new phone there is a high probability that it will be a Android Smartphone (As per IDC report more than 90% mobiles sold in 2013 were running on Android OS and the trends are similar this year too). Most of the time one would not rest unless his/her preferred settings are applied but few of the settings can annoy you on first day usage of your device. One of such settings is ringtone setting which is an identity for many people I still remember one of my senior colleague Mr. Sharma we called him Kajrare Ji as his phone's ringtone was yesteryear's hit song.

Setting up a new ringtone is very easy task for any android phone, you just go to Settings > User Profiles > Select Profile name > Ringtone > Select any of the available ringtones

If User Profiles option is not there you can check for Sound settings > Ringtones > Select any of the available ringtones.

But what you get from above options is the default list of ringtones which might not impress you. So how do you get your favorite song to this list.

Step1: Search for File manager in your device. Devices from Samsung, Micromax generally have File Manager pre installed. If not installed in your phone download Astro File Manager from play store.

Step2: Open File Manager > Navigate to Song you would like to set as your ringtone.

Step3: Long select file to copy/cut the file and select desired option.

Step4: Navigate to Ringtone folder of your phone.

Step5: Go to User Profile / Sound options to select your ringtone.
Now you should be able to see your ringtone in the list.

Step6: Select your favorite song as your ringtone. :)

Note: For Samsung phones you can play your song , within the music player application you can go to options and select "Set as Ringtone" option.

Recently I faced issue with my chrome browser on my old desktop, all of a sudden nothing was working in chrome. I was not able to open any webpage while internet was working fine I checked it in other two browsers on same system. It took me good 4-5 hours to resolve this silly issue,

Problem:

Chrome does not load anything , it shows loading constantly and after some time page stops responding and it asks to wait or kill the page.

Troubleshooting:

  • After closing and restarting chrome several times, I used the best medicine for PC :) I restarted my desktop and tried to open chrome now. -Failed

  • After this I tried to restore my system to a previous date, but unfortunately there was no backup point. - Failed
  • Searched on internet for solutions - Found that my Norton Antivirus might be the issue. I removed it using Norton Recover tool.  - Failed
  • Reset WINSOCK Open a command prompt. (Start>Run>Type "cmd" and press OK) Type the following: "netsh winsock reset catalog" (without quotes) Press enter and then restart the computer.  - Failed
  • Checked Windows Firewall settings - Failed
  • Uninstalled and installed Chrome from various sources atleast 5 times
Finally I found a really simple solution.

Check compatibility settings of your chrome browser.

Step1: Right click on shortcut icon > Properties > Compatibility tab

Chrome Compatibility Settings
Chrome Compatibility Settings

Step2: Uncheck the checkbox "run this program in compatibility mode for" and click on Apply > OK

Step3: Close chrome browser if already opened.

Step4: Restart chrome browser. Your problem should resolve by now.

How to Root Micromax Canvas HD (and other MTK devices) without using PC

Biggest dilemma after owning an Android phone is whether to root it or not. As process of rooting a phone using SP tools or any other tools using PC are bit lengthy and complicated, users are afraid of rooting their device as a simple mistake can change a fully functional android device into a mere paper weight. On the other side there are many advantages of rooting. Rooting allows you to take your phone to its full capacity. As most of the OEMs takes a lot of time to release firmware updates to their Android phones. You can enjoy latest custom roms on your rooted device.

Here we are going to show you a method to root your device without using PC,which works for most of the Android devices.

To root your device you must download framaroot application developed by one of XDA devedloper alephzain  . Once you have downloaded , install this app. Make sure you have checked "Unknown Sources" in Security settings to allow application installation from sources other than Google play store. You can install this app on your android without worries as even if it doesn't work on your device it wont brick your phone.

Framaroot uses 6 exploits basically which are safe to root your android phone. These 6 exploits are Gandalf, Boromir, Sam, Frodo, Aragorn and Gimli. Seems like all the exploits are discovered by Lord of the Rings fan :) .

Steps to Root your device without using PC

Step1: Download framaroot application from the link above.

Step2: Install framaroot.apk.

Step3: Choose "Install Superuser" option inside Framaroot.

Step4: Select any exploits which appears on your device. For Canvas HD - Boromir

Step5:  If a message "Success :-) ... Superuser and su binaly installed. You have to reboot your device." pops up. Your device is successfully rooted. If not try other exploit listed for your phone.

Download Rootchecker to verify.

I have tried this on my Canvas HD and it worked smoothly.

More devices which can be rooted with this method can be found in below link.

List of devices which works with framaroot.

Do try this method and share your experience in comments sections with your device name and exploit used.
