How technology combined with fundamental core make an impact in today's professional education

As a corporate employee, I often come across people who say that they had no clue about what they would be working upon or how will they apply what they are studying while in college. Many of our friends learn after getting into a job which is often termed as on job training (OJT), however there are some colleagues who are always ahead of us. What really makes the difference? Well there can be many from your work environment to your personal background, individual's capacity etc, but there is one thing which plays a major role in our career and that is our education system and education. Well that was not that difficult to guess, for clarity we will put further details to support our argument.

For sake of simplicity and focused discussion we will limit ourselves to professional education. Last decade witnessed a steep rise in number of students opting for professional studies over regular graduation courses. The reason behind this shift can be attributed to attractive salary packages of professional students but this is something which was always there so why there is so much hue and cry now. The root cause is availability, there used to be a time when only a handful of students could get admitted into engineering or MBA courses. However, you can see a Engineering college in every nook and corner of city. I am not saying that this has done much damage for the youth as it has helped bridging a wide gap of demand and supply for professionals in market. Thousands of students get placed every year in reputed companies they start from more or less same salary package but over course of time the difference between skill sets and take home as well widens. So what can you do to be on top of the pyramid. It starts right from your selection of college. Few things to consider when you are selecting your future college would be as below.

How a college is planning to complete a course will define what kind of professional you would be in your future. Talk with existing students, research on internet, call college to get an understanding what they do apart from completing academic syllabus. SP Jain School of Global Management is one such institute which has incorporated some of very innovative and technology focused methods in regular curriculum. One of these methods is its tri-city model where in entire course is conducted in three different global cities each having unique advantage from perspective of culture, location and business. The success of such model is evident from the S P Jain alumni who are leading different teams and products in valuable MNCs.

Blended learning methodology of having Fundamentals at its core and technology over the top boost your position in market to a leading position. While fundamentals of Organisational behaviour is at most important for all Management students to understand it is also necessary to introduce to them with the latest and in demand technologies such as Big Data and Analytics which in turn should help them understand what they can do with data from Machine learning to providing valuable insight to organisation. Or for Computer science students while writing Algorithms is the core but to introduce them with latest frameworks and languages is also equally important.

One other factor is ranking of institution. Institutes with higher rankings are actually more competitive to move up or at least be at a stable top position. This eagerness to maintain rankings definitely goes in favour of students who gets benefit with these initiatives. Teachers in these institutes have pressure to achieve exceptional results and are always striving for getting more out of it.

Last but not least is one thing is actually you. What kind of zeal you have within , what you want to be? Not every one gets admitted to their choice of college but whatever you get its totally in your hands how to get maximum from it. Do check out yourself what are the trends in industry you want to be in and discuss with your teachers to guide you upon the same. Study hard and be smart, we wish you all the best for your future.
