Catapooolt hosts India’s largest ever crowdfunding pitch in Gurgaon

Highlighting its commitment to the cause of ‘Let India Make India’, Catapooolt, India’s premier crowdfunding destination, hosted its live crowdfunding event called CrowdPitch on November 27, at DLF Cyber Hub, Gurgaon. The event saw 15 tech start-ups pitching their promising business ideas to an audience of more than 200 people in order to attract patronship, funding and market feedback. Besides getting an opportunity to pitch at the event, these startups will also have two months on Catapooolt to raise their complete funding requirement.

Catapooolt’s latest event picked up from where the last event left off. Its CrowdPitch at Kolkata last month saw more than 100 people, including 15 leading investors, coming together on a two-hour cruise and raising almost INR 50K for ideas pitched. Chkra, Diky, Bolsnap, Awakey, Parkwheels, Peebuddy, E-cracker, Makermandy, Istandout, Ibuycell, Payper, Butterfly App, Strollup, My Autobiography and Gizmobaba were amongst the startups participating for the Gurgaon CrowdPitch. (Please see attached annexure for briefs on these start-ups)

Announcing the event, Satish Kataria, Managing Director, Catapooolt, said, “India, despite being considered the global start-up hub, has only about 300-odd angel investors today. Crowdfunding, on the other hand, has been proven successful around the globe. With these events, we are offering large-scale engagement opportunities for communities to come forward, interact and be a part of the vibrant startup ecosystem. The overwhelming response to our events so far is indicative of the rapid acceptance that the crowdfunding approach has been gathering in the Indian entrepreneurial ecosystem, and will pave the way for the next level of evolution for the industry.”

At its conclusion – the event witnessed more than INR 75,000 being contributed on-the-spot by the participating audiences across various pitching start-ups. While the contribution is still being done and is open till Thursday, December 3 – before the final funded amounts can be known – so far, two start-ups – PeeBuddy and Stroll Up seem to be winning the market acceptance.

As per Deep Bajaj – the founder of PeeBuddy, "Thank you Catapooolt for creating this platform, unconventional Businesses like ours dont fall in interest bracket of VCs who are busy chasing 'flavor of the month' segments like IT, Marketplaces, Hyper local delivery start-ups etc. However, validation from End customers at platform like Catapooolt helps entrepreneurs like us - who are in different social inventions- a great deal in keeping the hope and faith alive. Thank you Catapooolt for creating this event, hope this encourages more organisations to launch similar events which can help innovations like PeeBuddy." PeeBuddy is an interesting innovation which empowers women to relieve themselves, even while standing, and thus freeing herself from the local hygiene and cleaniness issues.

Catapooolt CrowdPitch is powered by premier IT industry body NASSCOM, DLF Cyber Hub and online payment company PayUMoney. Project ideas that garnered funding through Catapooolt include innovation, technology, consumer, entertainment, validating a new start-up’s offering, developing and pre-selling a product, designing a social innovation or simply anything that can change the world for the better.

So, the Catapooolt Crowdpitch is an attempt by us to create large-scale engagement opportunities for communities to now come forward and hear start-up pitches and be a part of them. We already have support of leading start-up ecosystem players towards this event – and are looking to an active participation by Delhi NCR citizens in pursuit of supporting innovation.”

Tata communications calls to create F1 prediction tools with a prize money of USD $50000

As part of its F1 connectivity innovation prize, Tata communications calls tech enthusiasts to come up with a F1 Grand Prix prediction tool for fans. First part of challenge included creation of app which would help F1 drivers make smart decision on the go with data collected from different sensors on board. The first challenge was one by Ravi Sawhney and Svetlana Sawhney with their winning application Databricks.

The F1 Connectivity Innovation Prize

As mentioned above the first part was dedicated to drivers but the second part is focused on F1 fans who make the sport what it is. The challenge requires the participants to come with an application which enables fans to engage with F1 management forecasting how each Grand Prix will unfold and submit their predictions for each team member and team for evaluation. The tool should also enable F1 Management to rank these predictions based upon accuracy so that most accurate prediction can be awarded when the results are out.

John Morrison, Chief Technical Officer of Formula One Management, says, “Each Grand Prix weekend, fans are glued to their TVs to see how drivers and teams respond to changing circumstances such as adverse weather conditions or an unexpected safety car deployment. With this challenge, we are asking entrants  to create a platform where F1® followers can use practice data and their knowledge of the sport to predict how the story of each race will play out and who will emerge as the winner.”

Julie Woods-Moss, Chief Marketing Officer and CEO of NextGen Business at Tata Communications, says, “The way we watch sports has changed for good – people want to be more engaged, sharing their own commentary via social media and using different devices to follow multiple video feeds and build their own picture of the action. The second challenge of the F1® Connectivity Innovation Prize is about finding new techniques for fans to experience and engage with the sport. We had a remarkable response to the first challenge, and I encourage technical visionaries and creative minds around the world to take part in the final challenge to shape innovation in F1®.” Martin Brundle, former Formula 1® race driver and F1® commentator for Sky Sports F1®, says, “In addition to bringing existing die-hard F1® fans closer to the sport, a predictive analysis tool would also open up new possibilities on how the sport could evolve and attract new followers in the future. This challenge has incredible potential and I’m looking forward to being a part of the judging panel.”

The first challenge of the F1® Connectivity Innovation prize, set by the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team, was to design a new approach for displaying critical race car telemetry and sensor data to enable engineers at the race track and at the factory in the UK to make more accurate decisions through real-time data visualisation. The winning entries came from the UK, Spain and Australia.

Each entry will be evaluated by a panel of judges which will include F1 drivers and technologists including John Morrison himself, Chief Technical Officer of F1. Lewis Hamilton, MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team race driver; Paddy Lowe, Executive Director (Technical) of the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team; David Coulthard, former Formula 1® race driver and F1® commentator; and Martin Brundle, former Formula 1® race driver and F1® commentator. They are joined by Mehul Kapadia, Managing Director of F1® Business at Tata Communications.

The deadline for entries for the second challenge is Tuesday September 8th 2015 at 5:00pm BST (GMT +1). A full brief can be downloaded from the F1® Connectivity Innovation Prize website. To hear more about the challenge, see this video featuring Martin Brundle.

The Grand Prize of the F1® Connectivity Innovation Prize is a cheque for $50,000 and a bespoke trophy, to be presented to the winner (or winning team) at the end of the season in November. Additional prizes will include VIP trips to the final of the 2015 FIA Formula One World Championship™, the 2015 FORMULA 1 ETIHAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX. [2]

Ravi Sawhney and Svetlana Sawhney wins 2015 F1 Connectivity Innovation Prize

Tata Communications, Official Managed Connectivity Supplier to the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team, and has unveiled the winners of the first challenge of the 2015 F1® Connectivity Innovation Prize. Set by the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team, the challenge required entrants to design a approach for gathering and displaying critical race car telemetry and data collected via on-board sensors to help engineers at the race track and at the factory in the UK to make efficient and faster decisions through real-time visualisation of data.

Paddy Lowe, Executive Director (Technical) of the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team, says, “We’ve been hugely impressed by the response to the challenge we set to consider how to derive clear advantage from the considerable volume of data we generate at the track – and importantly, to provide this competitive insight both in real-time and to a high standard of accuracy. The winning entries are all commendable in their originality as well as their viability, and represent the best of a very impressive array of submissions.”

The three winning entries are:
Winning entry 1: team entrants Ravi Sawhney and Svetlana Sawhney, UK
Idea: Databricks is an application that combines simple, yet effective visualisation of data with machine learning that would enable the team to make more timely and accurate decisions. A databrick displays variables such as speed in a range of graphical, brick-like formats. In addition to visualising data, a databrick can learn from what has happened in the past for a driver on an exact position on the track in similar conditions. By comparing what it is seeing in real-time with what has happened in the past, it can alert race engineers to unusual patterns, enabling predictive decision making. Visually, databricks live inside a canvas where they can be moved through a simple touch-based interface to allow the team to access insights as quickly as possible.

DataBricks Canvas

Winning entry 2: team entrants Marco EinÖder and Leire Apraiz, Spain
Idea: This Graphic User Interface system uses a modular approach to display key variables such as tyre degradation and temperature, to help enhance the accuracy of decision making during races. It uses high-impact colours and two different block types – a square core block for key variables, and a series of rectangular blocks to display other information to give the main data points additional context. Race engineers are able to place the rectangular contextual blocks anywhere around the main square block, making the system scalable and customisable. The solution taps into race engineers’ photographic memory by placing functionally relevant data together, such as information relating to tyres, driver’s actions, speed and mechanical systems.

Winning entry 3: individual entrant Paul Clarke, Australia
Idea: Signals and Streams is a creative combination of traditional web technologies and state-of-the-art protocols, which brings consolidated data insights to the team in real time. The incoming data, Signals, are distributed to race engineers the instant they are received. To help the team make sense of the wealth of data they receive, they would be provided with an artificial analyst called ARROW. Powered by machine learning, ARROW guides accurate decision making in a data-saturated, high pressure environment such as F1®. To help the team communicate regarding the Signals they receive, the solution is equipped with an instant communication feature called Streams. The combination of these tools enables the team to consume the huge amounts of data they gather during each race and react as effectively as possible.

Mehul Kapadia, Managing Director of F1® Business at Tata Communications, says, “As the role of data in F1® continues to grow, each season is set to be more nail biting than the last. With the second and final challenge just a couple of weeks away, I urge technology enthusiasts worldwide to put their bold ideas forward to spur future innovation in the sport.”

The Grand Prize of the F1® Connectivity Innovation Prize is a cheque for $50,000 and a bespoke trophy, to be presented to the winner at the end of the season in November. The five runners-up of both challenges will be awarded VIP trips to the final of the 2015 FIA Formula One World Championship™, the 2015 FORMULA 1 ETIHAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX.

Tata Communications is Official Managed Connectivity Supplier to the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team, providing three times faster connectivity to the team.

This innovative talent hunt gave a golden opportunity to all the young bands to rock the world with their talent

Winners - India's Top50 Bands

Commenting on the contest, Mr. Vipin Pungalia, Director, Sennheiser Professional shared, “Getting to the final stage after 3 months beginning with 218 bands and now the final 50 has been a very enthralling and an eventful journey. Immense talent and at par entries made it really difficult for us to list down the top 50 bands. The fact that we have recieved participation from several Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities like Dehradun and Jharkand is a testament that Sennheiser has been able to provide the young music lovers an apt platform to showcase their talent. The amazing jury comprising of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Salim-Sulaiman helped us in finding our Top50 bands. We would like to congratulate the winners and welcome the bands to be a part of the Sennheiser family. We are also gearing up for a second season of Sennheiser Top50 with lot more
surprises in store.

All the top 3 bands can now add a bling to their performances as they will be awarded with the all new evolution wireless D1 microphone sets. To top it all, the winner of the contest- ‘The Local Train‘ has won itself an envious 2 year endorsement deal with Sennheiser, the first runners up- ‘Shadow and Light‘ have bagged a recording session with Ashish Manchanda at Flying Carpet Productions in Mumbai and the second runners up, ‘Purple Fusion‘, will get a chance to be mentored by Sennheiser Artists Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy or Salim Sulaiman.

The dynamic cardioid microphone cuts through high on-stage levels and gives clear reproduction with a high presence along with a Sennheiser quality promise.

Commenting on their jouney with Sennheiser Top50, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, renowned composer and singer trio, said, “The journey has been enriching with a lot to learn from these young and emerging musicians with their own personal renditions of popular tracks and amazing original compositions. What’s really exciting is the passion with which these bands have performed. They have brought in a breath of fresh air to these different genres of music which made it almost impossible for us to rank them. We are happy to be a part of this endeavour to find emerging and budding bands across India and wish them luck for their future ventures.“

Salim Sulaiman, celebrated composer duo, shared their experience with Sennheiser Top 50 saying, “A musical journey is an endless and exciting one which knows no boundaries. Sennheiser Top50 has proved this with partcipation from regions across India. It was overwhelming to encounter music with snippets that radiated the culture of the regions that these bands belonged to and at the same time putting us in a difficult spot to rank the top50. This unique initiative by Sennheiser has given a huge paltform to several talented performers and urging several others to bring their music alive on a larger scale.“

Commenting on their win, The Local Train said, “Sennheiser isn't just a brand, it's a phenomenon in the music industry! To have such a prestigious name adjudge us  as the top act in a nation wide hunt is the kind of push every artist dreams of! Being an independent DIY band with no labels backing us, the fact that we've been noticed by Sennheiser gives us the affirmation that we need. To have the likes of Shankar Ehsaan Loy and Salim Sulaiman appreciate our music is an opportunity we never thought we'd have any time soon. Some of the top artists in the world are connected to the Sennheiser family. We can only imagine the body of knowledge we'll have access to and with the right exposure we see so much of learning and growth in store for us in the coming years.

Shadow and Light also contributed saying, “As a brand, Sennheiser has been actively involved in connecting and recognizing several big names in the industry through endorsements and sponsorship, and we are very happy to be a part of that family now!“

“By winning this competition Sennheiser has virtually given us one of the biggest exposures not only in the country but to people around the world which otherwise would have taken us years to get exposed to so many people all around the country and abroad. A very sincere thanks to Sennheiser!!“ added Purple Fusion.

Why ASUS Zenfone2 should be in your wishlist for next smartphone

ASUS India launched Zenfone 2 after huge success of Zenfone series phones this year. We have done Asus Zenfone2 review and were amazed what phone has to offer for the price range. Half the year is already passed and Zenfone 2 is among the best phones launched this year so far. So if you are planning to buy a new phone, this phone definitely deserves your attention and we will give you reasons for that.

Massive RAM: First thing first, the phone's USP is its RAM. Zenfone 2 is the first and only (so far) smartphone to have 4 GB RAM. More RAM you have more you can do multitasking with your phone, and expect no lag while playing those heavy games.

Incredible Design: ZenFone 2 is beautifully crafted with ultra thin edges measuring just 3.9mm, the curve design from back makes the phone easy to handle despite of its size. The left and right edges are bare and volume rockers are placed at back of the phone sporting unique ASUS concentric circle design and of course the back cover has metallic finish with thin hair line making the device look more premium and stylish than ever.

Screen to body ratio: ZenFone 2 comes with a 5.5 inch full HD IPS display but due to its thin bezels the device is almost the size of a 5 inch smartphone with 72% screen to body ratio that means no wastage of space.

ASUS ZenFone2
Power packed performance: ASUS Zenfone2 is powered by a 2.3 GHz 64 bit Intel Atom processor, supported by 4 GB dual channel RAM and supports LTE Cat 4+ for download speeds up to 250 Mbps.

Latest Android OS: ZenFone 2 runs on Android Lollipop based Zen UI with multiple user options, the tweaks done by ASUS to the stock OS are really helpful, for instance if you feel its hard to handle the phone with one hand then you can switch to one hand mode and customize the size of display in which you want to work. The software also comes with multiple privacy features to hide your contacts, files, images and other data from all other users.

Camera that you will Love: Zenfone 2 comes with a 13 MP rear shooter supported by dual colour LED flash lights and 5 MP camera at the front. Different inbuilt camera mode will suit most of the real world situation and are optimized with the best settings, however if you are a master of photography than the manual mode gives you all the control and use it as any other professional camera. During our review we have experienced the Pixel Master 2.0 software and hardware combination of Zenfone 2 are one of the best in the industry.

Glove Touch Response: Do you find it difficult removing your gloves every time when you want to use your phone in extreme cold? Then Asus Zenfone2 is a life saver, the glove touch mode makes the screen even more sensitive and can detect touch when your gloves are on.

Fast Charge Technology: The phone is powered by a massive 3000 mAh strong battery to give juice to your device for longer hours. The boost master charging technology makes the battery level charge from 0 to 60% in just 39 minutes. So longer backup less charging time, isn't that cool?

Apart from above mentioned points, you will love the improved Zen UI, security features, personalisation of screens, transition , snap view, kids mode and to make it more fun there are some cool accessories out there in market which includes ZenFlash, LolliFlash, ZenEar and ZenPower
